How to make different horse products at home?
It'd be a great help if you could answer! ANY horse product:
Coat shine
Tail conditioner
Fly Spray
Tack cleaner
ANYTHING would be helpful, thanks!!!
All store bought products are going to work better and last longer. I have found that after buying all the ingredients for each product it gets more expensive then the actual store bought product.
Coat Shine~You will need your favorite shampoo, conditioner, an empty spray bottle, and water. Fill up your spray bottle with about 1 cup of water. Then add 4 tablespoons of shampoo. Shake it up until the water and shampoo are like a soap. Then add 5 tablespoons of conditioner. Shake that up until everything is mixed in. The soap with act as a cleaner, and the conditioner will leave the hair smooth and shiny. For the best results make a new coat shine every month, or as needed.
Tail/Mane Conditioner/Shampoo~Get your favorite conditioner/shampoo, a spray bottle, and water. Add about 1 cup of water into the bottle. Then add 5 tablespoons of conditioner/shampoo. You are basically just watering down the conditioner/shampoo. The more conditioner/shampoo you add, the better.
Fly Spray~Most at home fly sprays are not water proof, don't last long, and don't work if there are lots of flays. The other answer seemed to cover it well. If I were you, I would just buy one at the store.
Tack Cleaner~Get your regular tack conditioner AND leather cleaner. Put all of it into a plastic container. Then add a teaspoon of water, and mix it, don't shake it! Keep doing this until the conditioner AND cleaner is more of a shampoo consistency.
Hoof Conditioner~Get conditioner, moisturizer, and a plastic container. Mix these products with an equal ratio. I usually do 2 tablespoons to 2 tablespoons, just so it is always new, not old. Mix them together, and add 1 teaspoon of olive oil. Then again, mix them to get there. You want to get a clump free mixture, you may be mixing for a while. You don't want it to be too watery, you want a pudding consistency. When you put it on the horse, make sure you mix it into their hooves.
Body Shampoo/Conditioner ~Get your regular shampoo/conditioner, a spray bottle, and water. Simply add a cup of water, and about 4 tablespoons of shampoo/conditioner. Then mix/shake it up. You can use this in the winter, as you won't need the hose.
That seems to be the only products that work for me.
