What's your opinion on fly sheets?
So someone gave me this fly sheet, and i was all excited about it 'cause it was free. YES! well...no. because i noticed it only has chest straps...no leg straps or belly straps. so i can't have that on him in the pasture unless i want some massive epic disaster to happen. So I was like darn, no fly sheet for horsie. THEN, i was thinking, i saw this fly sheet i really liked and it's $20. the fly spray i buy is $17. So i would actually save money if i bought a fly sheet since i'd go through less fly spray and a sheet lasts longer. But i have no experience with fly sheets, so i have a couple questions. How well do they actually works? i mean flies would still land on the horse, and the horse would still feel it...right? and wouldn't the horse get hot, even though it's mesh? here it's normally in the 80's in the summer. sometimes we'll randomly get a week of 90's, but normally 70's-80's.
Basically, how practical are they, and do you like them?
I've never used one but I don't think they're that practical. First of all, they're prone to all the other blanket accidents horses can dish out, and secondly, they don't even cover the areas where flies bother horses the most (the face, ears, lower legs and belly).
