Odds of a bad reaction to horse/dog fly/insect repellent?
I not generally have product allergies. I know it is not recommended but do you think it is fairly safe to spray horse insect repellent on my clothes before riding?
Both for allergies and flammability when washing the clothes.
Cavalli- That is a suggestion not an answer to my question.
Depending on what kind of repellent you are using, it may or may not be okay. You won't get sick from it, but who knows what long-term exposure can do? I use sprays with natural ingredients, so those tend to be less harmful as long as you just spray it on your clothes (I cringe when people apply bug spray directly on their skin).
If you use it a couple of times, it should be okay. But for long-term use I would dilute it with water.
Allergy-wise, you should test it out a couple of times before dousing your clothing in it (remember, the first time you're exposed to something, you're not going to have the allergic reaction- it's the next time you have to look out for).
And I don't think you'll have any issues regarding flammability... I haven't seen any warnings on spray bottles. You'd only have to worry about fire with aerosol cans (ever make a bug spray bomb?).
