feeling flys through Mesh Fly sheets?
Im about to order a new Fly Sheet for my horse, and its super-mesh (meaning extreamly lightweight- and its white, I use those because in the summer here, its between 85 and 110 24/7.)
My question is, can the horses still feel the flys? She is wearing a normal heavier one now, so I know she cant feel it, but can the feel them through the sheet? And can the flys still bite through them?
Also, as for fly masks, I like the ones that cover the whole face (but not the ears) all the way down to the nose... Ive had fly masks like this... but I cant seem to find any this year! I dont want one that just overs the top, but all the way around.
If you know where some are, let me know!
The best long nose fly masks I've found are the Crusader masks made by Cashel, and can be ordered online. They come with or without ear covering.
Fly sheets may work depending on the mesh. You can combine Endure fly spray by Farnam which is an excellent product with the sheet for best results. It is oil based and stays on well, and also builds up on the hair with each use. Sweat doesn't affect it.
I've read that the Boett blanket that is recommended for horses with sweet itch is incredibly cool and also effective, but it is also very expensive. You can google it and see what you think.
