fly mask: to wear or not to wear..?
alllllright so here's the deal: i went to see my horse today around 11 (its 1:45 here now) and the flies were AWFUL. so i obviously put his fly mask on. this is the problem though, i have a wedding to go to at 3:30 and i dont know if i should take his fly mask off before the wedding (i would have to take it off around 2:30) or should i leave it on all night? i feel like im stuck between a rock and a hard place... its either let him get bugged (excuse the pun) by the flies from 2:30-8 when the flies leave, or leave it on which may rub his skin. it fits well and has fleece around the edge. what would you do?

I would leave it on if your horse it used to wearing it... you say that it fits well so it shouldn't rub or anything.
If he is not used to wearing it then take it off - a friends horse almost never wore one, and when she returned a few hours later he ripped it off and damaged it some... unfortunate because it was brand new.
If it does end up rubbing, make sure you get a good salve/ointment that repels flys and helps it heal.
If you're still unsure, then just make sure you fly spray him well, and put some around his ears and spread it along his face with your hand.
