How does the Magic card "Celestial Crusader" work?

The Stack is where any Spell that has just been cast, Activated Ability that has just been activated, or Triggered Ability gets triggered. Eah player then gets a chance to respond by Activating other abilities or casting Instants. Once all players decide not to do so, items are removed from the Stack (last on, first off order), and it is when they are removed from the Stack that the spell or Ability's effect happens.

Normally, spells can only be cast during one of your own two Main Phases and while nothing is on the Stack, except for Instant spells. Flash means that you can cast this creature at any time. So imagine you have a 3/3 White creature on the battlefield, and you opponent casts Lightning Bolt at it. You can then respond to the casting of the Lightning Bolt (while it is still on the Stack) by casting Celestial Crusader. By doing so, it will resolve and enter the battlefield before the Lightning Bolt resolves. While it is on the battlefield, other White creatures get +1/+1, so that 3/3 becomes a 4/4, and thus can survive the Lightning Bolt when it resolves. If Celestial Crusader did not have Flash, you would not be able to cast it while Lightning Bolt is on the Stack, and thus could not use it to save your other creature in this way.

Split-Second means that when you declare you are casting it, no players (including yourself) can do anything of any real use until it has resolved and come off the Stack (in the case of a creature, that means when it enters the battlefield.
